The Betterment Institute

warm science, sharp instruments

The Betterment

Institute

Evidence-based leadership measurement and culture diagnostics, built by Dr Dorian Minors.

If you don't measure it, you're guessing.

Are your leadership investments creating the behavioural change you're paying for?

Most can't answer that. Satisfaction scores go up. Behaviour stays the same. The investment vanishes into a feeling that something probably happened. Lore isn't leverage and buzzwords don't make you better.

The Betterment Institute exists because that's not good enough. I build measurement tools grounded in brain and behaviour science---tools that tell you whether people are actually developing, not just whether they enjoyed the workshop.

For organisations

Everything here is built around Wayfinder---a diagnostic instrument I developed to measure capability across six evidence-based dimensions and close the gap between what leaders practise personally and what they apply with their teams.

Leadership and culture measurement

Wayfinder maps your leadership culture across six dimensions---co-created with your stakeholders. Then it measures individual development using dual lenses: personal practice and organisational application. The gap tells you where coaching will land and where it won't.

Programme audits

You've invested in a leadership programme, a wellbeing intervention, a culture change initiative. Is it working? I review the theory, method, and metrics and tell you what the evidence supports. Wayfinder provides the measurement backbone.

Desk review from £5,000 · Full evaluation from £10,000

Executive coaching

One-to-one coaching grounded in the same diagnostic framework. Not motivational platitudes---baselines, evidence-based frameworks, and honest conversations about what's actually driving your patterns. We measure where you start and whether you move.

Wayfinder Discovery

Wayfinder also exists for individuals. Same science, no leadership assumptions. It maps where you're investing your development and where you're neglecting it---your balance across six dimensions of capability, your orientation, and how both change over time.

No organisation required. No credentials required. Just an honest look at the patterns you've built and whether they're the ones you'd choose.

Dr Dorian Minors

Who

I'm Dorian Minors. I spent fifteen years---military, a Cambridge PhD, clinical practice---looking for the instruction manual for the device in our heads. It doesn't exist. Anyone who tells you it does is lying. But the patterns are visible once you know where to look, and I built instruments to measure them.
